| We
were hired as a project consultant to Jack Starkey at
Specialty Tapes to manage the design, development, integration,
installation, and start up of a state of the art 62-inch
wide Silicone Coater. The project included working to
defined specifications and included managing the coater
procurement as well as the facility requirements. We
determined that a used complete coater would give us
the most performance for the investment. We secured
a 62-inch wide coater located at Mactec in Scranton
Pennsylvania. The disassembly and associated documentation
phase encompassed three months including shipping the
equipment in 14 semi-truck loads to Wisconsin. |
|
| We
completed the engineering phase including the design,
CAD layout/documentation for all equipment required
to modify and reassemble the refurbished 62-inch coater.
The design features included two coater heads, one gravure,
one 3-roll reverse, and five controlled oven zones.
We also designed and installed a new 48-inch air turn
to facilitate a 180-foot long oven we b path within
a 90 feet building space. The project also included
adding 10,000 square feet to the present building space
and supervising the addition. We then installed all
necessary equipment including integrating new power
control panels, PLC-PC AC vector motors and new gear
boxes. The coater is controlled using Cimplicity software
and we were responsible for the successful line start-up.
Production began running on the line in September 2001
and the equipment continues to run successfully, meeting
or exceeding expectations. |

|
| We
have also worked on a complete two-station lithium battery
coater for Mead Paper in Dayton, Ohio, which was moved
to San Jose, California, and we were involved with additional
modifications at that time. This project has highly
confidential information restrictions and more details
that are not available. But we can share that the project
was completed successfully and met the customers expectations. |

We
also built a high-pressure heated roll calendar for
the 3M Cottage Grove plant.
In addition, we worked on projects involving special
design slitters and coating heads including equipment
for Film-Tec in Edina, Minnesota. |
